I wrote a post back in February called “iMessage: iWant”. This was the day that Apple came out with a beta version of iMessage for our laptops. It took me a day to get the hang over- but now I’m hooked.
Would you like to maximize the efficiency of your online shopping/TV streaming/texting with friends?? Well then, you my friend are a perfect candidate to download iMessage for your Mac!
I’ve really won over a few of my professors because I’m not that girl who’s always reaching into her backpack to check her iPhone… I’m smarter than her. It may look like I’m passionately “taking notes”, but in reality I’m getting a debriefing on my friend’s weekend.
That’s a lie. Because I’m actually a nerd.
Here’s a screenshot from my iMessage. See how many friends I have!!
I get a lot of compliments on my laptop’s background… Jealous?
I use iMessage mostly when I’m lying in bed watching TV on my computer and don’t feel like doing the awkward-texting-while-lying-down-with-laptop-on-your-belly, which kinda looks like this:
- Send unlimited iMessages to any Mac, iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
- Start an iMessage conversation on your Mac and continue it on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
- Send photos, videos, attachments, contacts, locations, and more.
- Launch a FaceTime video call and bring the conversation face-to-face.
- Messages supports iMessage, AIM, Yahoo!, Google Talk, and Jabber accounts.
Here’s an exert from my last post if you need help downloading:
(warning: apparently Messages replaces iChat, so if that upsets you, get off this blog and join the rest of us in 2012)
My initial frustration- I’m getting text on my iPhone, and they are not popping up on my iMac. TXT Y U NO SHO ON MAC? I also couldn’t send a message to anyone because contacts (synced for me, nice touch?) only displayed names and no numbers?
Why- This is because it’s Messages, not iMessage. For Messages, you must use a valid Apple ID, which is lame if you ask me. To set this up, you actually have to do the restart. Once you do that, Messages will ask you to sync it with your Apple ID and any other email accounts you desire.
I’ve had a few people tell me that my iMessage/email address shows up when I text them… doesn’t really bother me though.
